During Matthews and Kramer's conversation, the latter's backstory is partially explored, revealing one of the reasons why he became Jigsaw.Īfter the immensely successful opening weekend of 2004's Saw, a sequel was immediately green-lit. Meanwhile, a police squad led by Detective Eric Matthews apprehends John Kramer (revealed to be Jigsaw in the first film), but the latter reveals that Matthews' son is part of his game, forcing the detective to wait until Kramer reveals his whereabouts. In the film, a group of ex-convicts are trapped by the Jigsaw Killer inside a house and must pass a series of deadly tests to retrieve the antidote for a nerve agent that will kill them in two hours.
